Last weekend, I went foraging for pine. Due to the winds we’ve had, it was very easy to collect them as many trees and branches had fallen down.
I then used the needles to make a pine tea. I wasn’t holding out much hope of liking it as I associate pine with disinfectant! I was pleasantly surprised.
It had a gentle, soothing sweet taste which I really enjoyed.
Pine is an expectorant so very good at realising mucus. And gosh does it work! I have had problems with my sinuses on and off for a few years since having a nasty infection. I felt the pine tea working on my sinuses straight away, clearing them and opening my airways.
It also had an uplifting but calming affect on me
Pine has many other properties too:
- High in vitamin c
- Good for immunity
- Antimicrobial
- Anti-inflammatory
- Lung decongestant
- Sinus decongestant
I offered some of the tea to Sammy and Disley but neither wanted to taste it. However, I will definitely be making some more for me and to try with my other dogs.
Why not collect some pine and offer to your dogs? You can offer it fresh or as a tea. Let me know if they interact with it.
💚All parts of the pine tree are safe to consume. Ensure you are collecting pine. If in doubt, leave it out
