Frequently asked questions

Do you work with raw fed dogs?

Yes. I specialise in raw feeding and species-appropriate diets, ensuring meals are nutritionally complete, balanced, and safe. I can also help if you’re new to raw feeding or unsure whether it’s right for your dog.

Is raw feeding safe?

When done correctly, raw feeding can be safe and beneficial. Part of my role is ensuring diets are balanced, hygienic, and appropriate for your individual dog and the household.

If you are not comfortable with raw feeding, I am always happy to look at alternatives

Can you help if my dog eats commercial food?

Absolutely. I work with dogs fed raw, home-cooked, and commercial diets. If raw feeding isn’t suitable, I can help improve your dog’s current food and recommend appropriate supplements or adjustments.

How long will it take to see improvements?

Every dog is different. Some clients notice improvements within a few weeks, while others see more gradual changes. Nutritional support focuses on long-term health and balance, not quick fixes.

How do I know if my dog needs a nutrition consultation?

If your dog experiences recurring issues, has been diagnosed with a health condition, or you simply want reassurance that their diet is right, a consultation can be extremely beneficial.

Do you work alongside my vet?

Yes. I encourage collaboration with your vet where appropriate. Nutrition support works best when it complements veterinary diagnosis and treatment.

Do you offer online consultations?

Yes. I offer online canine nutrition consultations, allowing me to support clients across Lincolnshire and throughout the UK. Online consultations are just as thorough as in-person sessions.

How long does a nutrition consultation take?

Initial consultations typically take 45-90 minutes, depending on your dog’s needs and complexity. Follow-up support is also available if needed.

Can you help dogs with ongoing health conditions?

I regularly support dogs with chronic and complex conditions, including digestive issues, skin problems, allergies, joint concerns, and weight management. Nutritional support is always complementary to veterinary care, not a replacement.

Is a nutrition consultation suitable for healthy dogs?

Yes. Nutrition consultations aren’t just for dogs with health issues. Many clients book consultations to ensure their dog’s diet is balanced, complete, and appropriate for their age, breed, and activity level.

What happens during a canine nutrition consultation?

A nutrition consultation involves a detailed review of your dog’s health history, current diet, lifestyle, and any concerns you may have. I then create a tailored nutrition plan designed to support your dog’s individual needs, whether that’s raw feeding, cooked food, or improving a commercial diet.

Do you sell food or supplements?

I provide independent, evidence-based advice, and all recommendations are made solely based on your dog’s individual needs and never sales targets.

While I do stock a small, carefully selected range through my website and my shop, Tilly’s Treat Cupboard, there is absolutely no expectation for you to purchase from me. I’m always happy for clients to buy products elsewhere, and where possible, I actively encourage supporting your own local independent pet shop.

My priority is always what’s best for your dog.

How do I book a nutrition consultation?

You can book a consultation directly through the website or contact me if you’re unsure which service is most suitable for your dog.
