Coconut Merchant MCT Oil – 97% C8 (500ml)

MCT oil to support neurological health, yeast balance, gut function and heart health in dogs.

This high-caprylic-acid MCT oil is a powerful, targeted addition to canine health protocols, chosen specifically for its exceptionally high 97% caprylic acid (C8) content — the most bioavailable and rapidly utilised form of MCT.

Neurological & Epilepsy Support

Research shows that supplementing dogs with MCT oil may help reduce both the frequency and severity of seizures in dogs with epilepsy. MCTs provide an alternative fuel source for the brain in the form of ketones, supporting more stable neurological energy metabolism.

While a ketogenic-style diet (low carbohydrate, high fat, adequate protein) can be beneficial for epileptic dogs, dogs do not enter ketosis easily through diet alone. C8 MCT oil enhances ketone production, increasing the effectiveness of a ketogenic approach without excessive dietary fat.

Targeted Support for Yeast-Prone Dogs

High-caprylic-acid MCT oil is widely used in yeast management protocols, selected specifically for its naturally occurring caprylic acid (C8) — a fatty acid commonly used to support dogs prone to yeast imbalance.

Why caprylic acid?

Caprylic acid is a medium-chain fatty acid that has been widely studied for its anti-yeast properties. Scientific research published in the medical literature has shown that caprylic acid can interfere with yeast growth and survival, helping to reduce yeast activity. In some research settings, caprylic acid has been compared favourably to conventional antifungal medications when used as part of a broader management approach.

In dogs, yeast imbalance often begins internally in the gut, even when symptoms show externally (ears, paws, skin, coat). Caprylic acid is valued in canine nutrition because it:

  • Helps maintain a gut environment less favourable to yeast overgrowth
  • Supports microbial balance, rather than simply masking symptoms
  • Is rapidly absorbed, placing minimal strain on digestion
  • Is suitable for dogs with gut, skin or immune challenges
  • Can be carefully dosed and adjusted to minimise detox reactions

Unlike coconut oil, MCT oil contains concentrated medium-chain triglycerides without long-chain fats, making it easier to digest and more appropriate during yeast protocols.

Heart & Metabolic Health Support

C8 MCTs are rapidly converted into energy rather than stored as body fat, supporting efficient fat metabolism. This provides clean energy for the body and may support overall cardiovascular health, particularly in dogs needing additional calories without excessive weight gain.

Feeding Guidelines For Yeast and Cardiovascular Support

Introduce very slowly and build up gradually:

Small dogs: ¼ tsp daily
Medium dogs: ½ tsp daily
Large dogs: 1 tsp daily

If stools loosen, reduce the amount and increase more slowly.

Feeding Guidelines For Epilepsy or Ketogenic use:

Feed at 6.5% of the dog’s daily food amount, building up gradually.

Important to Know

  • Caprylic acid is not a cure and works best as part of a structured protocol and nutrition plan tailored to your dog’s individual needs.
  • MCT oil may cause loose stools and digestive upset if introduced too quickly — slow introduction is essential.
  • Intended to be used alongside appropriate diet changes, gut support and lifestyle management
